Early Childhood Educator
Using the DGCM Annual plan, Creative Curriculum Framework and principles of Developmentally Appropriate Practices, the Early Childhood Educator will develop and teach daily hands-on programs that excite and engage both child and care-giver. In addition, he/she will interact with visitors on the museum floor primarily in Kids Eye view, modeling early childhood learning and play styles, with the intent to maximize the museum experience. Outreach Science Program Educator
Under the direct supervision of the Outreach Education Senior Manager, the Outreach Science Program Educator will present their assigned Discovery Gateway science outreach program in schools throughout the state of Utah during the current school year, and may present the Discovery Gateway Teacher Professional Development Program according to the iSEE schedule. Outreach Science Program Educators will be required to travel across the state of Utah. In addition, Outreach Science Program Educators will also be required to participate in science related programming events and activities to include but not limited to Open House for Public Officials, Museum Day at the Capital, annual UEA conventions, Children’s Festival, and Bumblebee Bash. STEAM Educator (Science & Technology Emphasis)
Under the direction of the Director of Museum Education and Operations, the STEAM Educator will develop and teach Discovery Gateway STEAM programming. Utilizing the current Discovery Gateway fiscal year annual plan as a guide, the STEAM Educator will create an innovative children’s STEAM program for museum visitors to explore. STEAM programming will provide inquiry based experiments and experiences that encourage curiosity and exploration of the sciences, as well as the creative, artistic and cultural elements of the arts. The STEAM Educator will act as the on-site specialist in the field of science, technology, engineering, arts, and math education, encouraging a greater understanding of the connections appreciation and comfort level of these disciplines.
