GRAPHIC DESIGN INTERN
Discovery Gateway is looking for an enthusiastic and talented graphic design intern(s) to work 10–20 hours/wk for the summer of 2008. Discovery Gateway, formerly The Children‘s Museum of Utah, is a hands-on discovery museum for kids of all ages. Be a part of this world-class institution!
Note: This is a part-time, unpaid internship.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist Art Director with the design and production of a variety of projects including implementation of Discovery Gateway identity, brochures, posters, invitations, banners, flyers, and exhibit graphics.
  • Research photographs, illustrations, and production methods.
  • Select production techniques appropriate for job and budget.
  • Sustain department records of previous design projects. Archive and record projects on disks, etc.
  • Organizational duties such as copying, filing, and labeling may be needed.

Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in a Graphic Design program.
  • Interest in designing print and environmental exhibit graphics.
  • Strong sense of typography.
  • Skilled in Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to help out as needed.

Skills Internship Will Develop:

  • Acquire experience and hands-on learning while creating environmental and print graphics from an experienced designer.
  • Gain understanding of branding and the process of creating environmental graphics for exhibits.
  • Create real-world projects for portfolio.
  • Expand communication and computer skills.
