Discovery Gateway is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to educating and inspiring children to imagine what they can BEEcome! As a nonprofit we must fundraise for about half of our operating costs. With the help from our Development Officer, Cristi Meyer, we are able to raise the funds we need through grants, donors, and fundraising campaigns!
Cristi Meyer is the Development Officer at Discovery Gateway where she helps raise the contributed portion of the budget, which is around $1.5 million, by writing grants, researching donor prospects and working on different fundraising campaigns and events. She has a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communications from Colorado State University-Pueblo and a background working in nonprofit administration. Prior to working at the museum, Cristi worked at the University of Oregon at Early Childhood CARES, an agency that provides early intervention and early childhood special education services. She wore many hats in her role and grew to love early childhood education and helping families in the community.
Cristi loves working at Discovery Gateway because she gets to shine a light on all the different programs the museum has to offer and the positive impact the museum has on the community. She enjoys using her creativity on interesting projects and the fun environment the museum brings to her work.
Cristi grew up in Colorado and loves the outdoors. She has a border collie named Odin although some would say she is the cat whisperer but don’t tell her dog Odin that! When she’s not at work, Cristi likes to cook, go to yoga, hike, relax at coffee shops and travel around to different National and State Parks.
