Discovery Gateway is excited to announce our Executive Director, Kathleen Bodenlos, has been chosen from over 150 international leaders for the 2023 American Express Leadership Academy. In addition to working with 77 non-profit leaders to gain insights and knowledge from their respective organizations, Kathleen will have the opportunity to learn from them and their diverse organizations.
The six-month Academy will be conducted by Common Purpose and is in partnership with American Express. The programming is supported by their community partners, the TED Foundation, and the Taproot Foundation. This class of non-profit leaders is coming from the United States, Canada, and Latin America and will represent 65 organizations spanning such areas as climate change, education, health, and disability. Leaders selected for this program receive a 360 evaluation and individualized coaching sessions to enhance their leadership skills. They will also meet in person in New York City to network and attend training to learn as a team.
Kathleen has over 20 years of executive management and strategic development experience for both corporations and non-profit organizations. She is passionate about the role museums play in creating curious thinking and sparking the joy of learning. Prior to moving to Utah to join the Discovery Gateway team, Kathleen served on the executive management teams of both Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh and Cincinnati Museum Center. Before working in the museum field, she worked in executive leadership roles for corporations primarily in the medical device industry.
