Mountain Pancakes
Yummy for Everyone
This is our favorite geology related breakfast! Create a landscape in your oven based in this fun recipe. Eggs react to heat to rise in the oven, and flour keeps the whole recipe together. Perhaps the most exciting part of this activity is that it is hard to predict what kind of landscape will emerge. You will definitely want to turn the oven light on and peek in on the cooking pancake to see things take shape.
Materials
- 6 eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup flour
- Pinch salt
- 2 tablespoons butter
- Toppings like fruit, powdered sugar or syrup
Directions
- Heat oven to 425
- Cut up butter into 2 pieces, and place in baking dish
- Place metal baking dish (or glass) in the oven
- Mix all other ingredients together in a blender or use a whisk
- Take pan out of the oven, and swirl melted butter throughout
- Pour in batter
- Cook for 22 minutes
- Remover from oven, admire your landscape
