Discovery Gateway Celebrates Pioneer Day with Hands on Learning For the Whole Family

July 20, 2021--- Salt Lake City, Utah---Discovery Gateway Children’s Museum (DGCM) is adding to the celebrations of Utah Pioneer Day by hosting three days of educational and hands-on programming at the museum. Partnering with the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, DGCM will be hosting three days of programs which will include interactive pioneer games, no sew pioneer dolls, take home booklets as well as other interactive photography experiences.

“We are excited to celebrate this Utah holiday at the children’s museum,” said Kathleen Bodenlos CEO/Executive Director of DGCM. “We always strive to inspire children to be modern pioneers through exploration and discovery. Children will have fun celebrating this holiday with us and learning about Utah’s interesting history.”

Pioneer Day commemorates the arrival of the first group of Mormon pioneers to the Salt Lake Valley, on July 24, 1847. In Utah it is an official state holiday, and the associated celebration, including a parade, is referred to as Days of ’47. It is a time for recognizing all people who have contributed to building the state, regardless of religion or background.

Families will be able to attend this holiday programming from July 21st- 23rd from 11:00AM-3:00PM, free with admission.
