Family Friday: Learning About our Unique Families with The Family History Library and Encircle
This week we are participating in Week of The Young Child (WOYC). WOYC is a national celebration hosted by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), and invites parents, teachers and caregivers to spend the week focusing on early learning opportunities. This year we have moved the celebration online and are delighted to be joined by five guest organizations. Throughout this week we will explore each day’s theme through performances, projects and virtual visits with our partners. Today we are participating in Family Friday.
Thank you all so much for participating in Week of the Young Child with us! For our last day, we are talking about families. Everyone’s family is special and unique, so we chose projects that can help you learn a little bit more about your family and celebrate it’s uniqueness. We have two guests who have created fun projects that you can do with your family at home. We are so excited to welcome The Family History Library, who have prepared a fun genealogy project and coloring sheets for us! We are also excited to participate in a story time and art project with Encircle!
1. Check out these great genealogy projects with the Family History Library!
2. Explore these fun family history coloring sheets
3. Next, let’s do a virtual story time with Encircle! Listen to the book “Families! Families! Families!” by Suzanne Lang. How does the illustrator Max Lang draw families in this book?
4. Can you draw an animal portrait of your family? What animals did you choose? Did you include your pets, or even some plants?
