Camp Policies and FAQs

• Doors opens at 8:30 AM. No drop-off before 8:30 AM
• Pick-up window lasts 30 minutes after camp ends
• $25 charge for each additional 15 minutes beyond pick-up window (limited exceptions)
• Keep in mind both your child’s age as well as which grade they have just completed as of Summer 2026 in order to ensure they are registered with the correct age group

Camp Policies

Museum Workshops

Select a 10-15 minute workshop to pair with your visit! (Workshop time is included in the length of the visit)
iSEE Recipients are required to participate in a workshop. Private groups have the option to opt-out of a workshop.

During your Discovery Gateway Field Trip, you can choose to participate in a facilitated lesson and activity in our private theater. These workshops utilize interactive play and discussion to introduce students to STEAM concepts that they can apply in the museum.*Workshops are not mandatory for field trip groups with Pre-K level or younger students*Story Time:

‍Workshop Capacity: 15-100 students
Workshop Duration: 10-25 minutes (included in your 2 hour visit)

For pre-K students and younger:
*Workshops are not mandatory for field trip groups with Pre-K level or younger students*

Story Time:
Students will hear a surprise children’s story!

For students K-2nd:

Exer-Cycles:
Cycles! Cycles! Cycles! This workshop is great for active younger students who are interested in the world and how it works. Students will recognize earth and space cycles all around them and how they repeat to create mountains, plants, water, and life. Students will get moving as they simulate being blooming butterflies, bounding froglets, and growing plant life!

Simple Machines Mission:
Students will learn about the 7 simple machines: planes, pulleys, levers, wheel and axels, wedges, and screws. Students will be on the lookout for “DiscoveryBEE” located next to some of our own simple machines! If located and correctly identified, students will receive a prize for their valiant simple-machine spotting efforts.

Beehive Blitz:
At Discovery Gateway, we love bees! You’ll find them all over our museum. In this workshop, students will take an in-depth look at bees, our state insect, and learn how they use their head, thorax, and abdomen. Students will also have the chance to communicate like bees, guiding the field trips educator to flowers with the most pollen and warning of any danger!

Lights, Camera, Adaptations!:
Students will explore various habitats and “cast” the animals that should thrive in them, learning about the specialized skills and body parts that enabled these creatures to survive in their environments. We will discuss habitats, climate, and how animals are adapted to their surroundings. This interactive workshop is suitable for students of all ages.

For students 3rd-5th:

Paleo-Explorers:
Learn about our beloved Utahraptor (Clawdette) in this introductory paleontological workshop. Students will learn the basics of dino anatomy and how it compares to our own, as well as the essentials of fossil excavation. Step into the shoes of a paleontologist and engage in hands-on research and exploration at the I Dig Dino exhibit!

iSEE Covered Admission Qualifications

Thanks to the Utah State Legislature’s Informal Science Education Enhancement fund and other generous sponsors, we are able to provide qualifying public and charter schools within the state of Utah covered field trips.

The only cost iSEE groups are responsible for is transportation to and from the museum.

Funding is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. If your group has been selected to receive these funds, you will receive an “iSEE Recipient Guidelines” document along with your confirmation email.
