OUR exhibits
Have you visited lately?
There’s always something new to discover! We add or update exhibits about every six months, creating fresh opportunities for kids to explore, experiment, and learn through play. Our hands-on exhibits encourage creativity, collaboration, problem solving, and discovery through art, science, literacy, and more.

UTA Bus
Built in partnership with the Utah Transit Authority, our UTA Bus exhibit gives children a hands-on way to explore how public transportation works through play. Kids can climb aboard a walk-through bus built with real components from decommissioned UTA buses, including authentic seats, a driver’s seat and steering wheel, dashboard controls, and a working stop-request mechanism. They can practice using the fare station, explore a bus stop, and learn about UTA careers, accessibility, and the role public transportation plays in our growing community.

Kids Eye View
Experience the world from a child’s perspective in Kid’s Eye View at Discovery Gateway Children’s Museum! This hands-on, child-sized city lets kids explore real-world roles such as shopping in the grocery store, becoming a mechanic, and building in the construction zone. Designed to spark imagination, creativity, and nurture social learning, each exhibit is intentionally created to support essential early childhood development as children learn through play and discover how the world around them works.

I Dig Dinos
Experience the life of a paleontologist through your child’s eyes in our one-of-a-kind exhibit. Kids can dig for fossils, take them to the lab and identify their find under a microscope, interact with real fossils found in Utah, and learn about kids who have actually discovered dinosaurs. It’s a first of its kind exhibit where kids get to be the paleontologist and get to be hands-on with actual fossils and bones!

The Stillson River Railroad
Choo-choo! The Stillson River Railroad, the biggest train exhibit in the Intermountain West, is here at Discovery Gateway Children’s Museum! This immersive new exhibit invites children and families to explore the magic of trains, from historic locomotives to hands-on train adventures. Whether you’re an engineer in training or love the sound of the whistle, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Staker Parson Construction Exhibit
There’s a lot happening behind every road, bridge, and building. In the Staker Parson Construction Exhibit, kids can operate cranes, send materials along a working conveyor belt, build with blocks, and venture through an underground tunnel. Along the way, they explore engineering and construction careers while discovering how materials like rock, concrete, and asphalt can be reused to build the world around us.

Associated Foods Truck
Ever wonder how your groceries make it to the store? Climb into the cab of a real Associated Food Stores semi-truck, take the wheel, flip the switches, talk on the radio, and help unload crates of fruits and vegetables into the neighboring Macey’s Grocery Store. As kids move between truck driver, delivery worker, and shopper, they discover the teamwork and coordination it takes to keep a community fed.

Subaru Electric Car
Pop the hood, grab a tool, and see what keeps a car moving. Young mechanics can make repairs, explore underneath the vehicle, and plug in an electric Subaru for a charge. The exhibit introduces kids to electric vehicles, solar energy, and the science behind modern transportation, turning real-world technology into something they can explore for themselves.

The Bee Garden
The Garden exhibit gallery demonstrates the importance of bees and their connection to Utah. Children and adults work together to keep things buzzing in the Garden exhibits featuring the Honey Climber, the Live Hive, and the 30-foot Pollinator!

Sensory Room & Story Factory
The Story Factory exhibit area offers visitors numerous ways to explore telling a story. Make your own comic strip, learn about social stories, create and perform your own plays on the theater stage, discover the science of color with Colors in Motion or create a picture with our Jumbo Picture Pegs!

Intermountain Healthcare: Saving Lives
Climb aboard an authentic Life Flight helicopter and explore the world of emergency rescue. Kids can imagine themselves as pilots, paramedics, and first responders while discovering how air medical teams work together to help people in critical situations. The exhibit introduces children to emergency response, teamwork, and the technology used to transport patients quickly and safely.

Intermountain Healthcare: Saving Lives
The Saving Lives exhibit features an authentic Life Flight Helicopter, a kid-sized Primary Children’s Emergency Department, and a Life Flight Rescue Hangar. Put your rescue skills to the test as a nurse, surgeon, image tech, pilot, paramedic, command center staff, hoist operator, or an engine mechanic.

Utah Jazz Court
Step onto this mini Utah Jazz court and perfect your shot! Kids can challenge friends or family at the free-throw line while building hand-eye coordination, motor skills, timing, and rhythm. It’s a fun, active way to play, connect with others, and strengthen social skills and family bonds.

Art Lab
Create something new every day at Discovery Gateway’s Daily Art program! Each day features a fresh, hands-on art project that inspires creativity and self-expression. From painting and sculpture to collage and craft, kids can explore new materials and techniques while creating their own unique masterpieces.

Steam Lab
STEAM programs offer a wide variety of inquiry-based, participant-focused, and engaging experiences focused on STEAM. Programs vary from 10–15 minute introductory activities to in-depth 30–60 minute family learning experiences. All our STEAM classes invite children to learn through play.
Utah Jazz Court

Summer Camps

Field Trips
Discovery Gateway STEAM-Guided Field Trips encourage students to discover, explore, and create with interactive, hands-on lessons and exhibits. Each exhibit features age-appropriate elements that tie into Utah’s core curriculum and SEED standards.
