Children’s Festival To-Go! August 3rd, 2020
This year, the 2020 World Connections Children’s Festival will be a new, virtual experience. Children’s Festival To-Go! invites you to celebrate the diverse cultures in Utah by joining us on a road trip across the state and sharing new virtual experiences. This year’s festival includes a printable activity book with a map identifying historical sites across Utah, new recipes to try at home and traditional art projects. Stay tuned during the week for Facebook Live events with special guests!
We invite families to tag us on Instagram and Facebook in pictures (of visiting locations, making art projects, or recipes etc.) When you tag us you’ll be entered to win a free art kit! A total of 10 art kits will be given away!
Schedule of Activities
Monday, August 3rd: The Children’s Festival To-Go activity book will be available to download and view online. There will be a map with 10 destinations, each focusing on a culture or ethnic group that has influenced Utah’s History. Each destination will include a historical place to visit, a coordinating art project and recipe influenced by that culture.
Wednesday, August 5th at 3:30 pm: Mengqi Wang for the University of Utah Confucius Institute will teach a class on traditional, Chinese paper cutting on Facebook Live.
Friday, August 7th at 3:30 pm: We will be chatting with the Tim Riley, Director and Curator of Archaeology at the Utah State University Eastern Prehistoric Museum on Facebook Live. Dr. Riley will help us learn all about the lifestyle and diet of the Fremont People who lived across much of Utah from 400-1300 AD.
